This class builds off the fundamentals of marksmanship and safe gun handling provided to end users in our Introduction to Handguns course to enable the end user to develop the skills necessary to use a handgun in a self-defense situation requiring deadly force.

By registering for this course you are confirming that you will provide proof of successful completion of an equivalent course or curriculum to the NWDA Introduction to Handguns or Women’s Introduction to Handguns. Our instructors reserve the right to refuse to allow completion of the course for individuals who are assessed during the course to be a safety risk to themselves or the public. Entrance fees are calculated per person enrolling in the course.

Participants must be over the age of 21, unless accompanied by a legal guardian.

We offer in-person courses in Medford, OR. Contact our team to negotiate fees for class locations outside of Southern Oregon. Learning modules for this course includes approximately 3 hours of classroom instruction followed by 5 - 6 hours on the range.


Required Gear:

  • Range suitable attire (Closed toe, leather upper footwear, warm/breathable material clothing as appropriate for the possible weather, long-pants must be worn year round)

  • Duty Belt

  • Eye Protection

  • Ear Protection

  • Self-defense handgun with holster (.380 minimum caliber weapon)

  • Two magazines and magazine pouch

  • 250+ rounds ammunition

  • Water

Recommended:

  • Meal or snacks

  • Additional third magazine is highly recommended

  • Basic medical kit to include: gloves, gauze, and tourniquet

  • Body Armor sufficient to defeat common handgun ammunition
